Is email marketing still effective or outdated now?

With platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and other digital channels growing rapidly, I’m wondering whether email marketing still delivers good results for businesses. Is it still worth investing in?

“Is email marketing outdated?” That’s almost like asking if people stopped checking their inbox just because reels got louder!

From what I’ve personally observed, email marketing is still incredibly effective when it’s done right. Recently, one of my friends in Leeds was telling me how most of his high-paying clients actually came through email campaigns, not Instagram or TikTok. The surprising part was that he wasn’t blasting generic sales emails to thousands of people. Everything was personalized. The subject lines felt human, the creatives looked clean, and the content actually spoke to the client’s pain points instead of screaming “BUY NOW.”

I’ve honestly observed email marketing outperform fast-moving platforms many times. Social media gives visibility, but email often brings intent. Someone scrolling Instagram is usually distracted by dancing dogs, gym edits, and food videos within seconds. An email lands directly in a space people still take seriously, especially in B2B, services, consulting, SaaS, and premium products.

That said, I’ve also seen email marketing fail badly. Huge lists, robotic copy, spammy designs, and zero personalization can turn campaigns into digital landfill faster than you can say “unsubscribe.”

So I wouldn’t call email marketing outdated at all. It’s more like a sharp kitchen knife. In skilled hands, it works brilliantly. In careless hands, it’s just noise in the inbox.

From my perspective, email marketing is still very effective and not outdated. It has simply evolved. Instead of mass emails, success now depends on personalisation, audience segmentation, and providing real value. I also find it reliable because it gives direct access to the audience without depending on algorithms like social media. When used with a proper strategy, it continues to deliver strong results in engagement, lead nurturing, and conversions.

I used to wonder the same thing, especially with Instagram and TikTok getting so much attention. But email marketing is definitely not outdated.

From my experience, it still works really well because it reaches people directly without depending on algorithms. Social media posts can get lost in the feed, but emails go straight to the inbox, which gives more control over communication.

I also find that email works best for building long term relationships. People who sign up are already interested, so they are more likely to respond, buy, or take action compared to cold traffic from social platforms.

Platforms like Instagram and TikTok are great for visibility and reach, but email marketing is stronger when it comes to conversions and repeat engagement. When both are used together, the results are usually much better.

So yes, I still see email marketing as worth investing in, especially for businesses that want consistent leads and customer retention.

In my experience, email marketing is still very effective when it’s done properly. I’ve noticed that unlike social media, emails go directly to people who are already interested in a business, so the chances of getting engagement or sales are much higher.

What has changed is the approach. Generic promotional emails don’t work like before, but personalized and valuable emails still perform really well. I think email marketing is especially useful for building customer relationships, sharing updates, promoting offers, and increasing repeat business without depending completely on social media algorithms.
